What’s in a Metrotile?

Each of our tiles is made from high quality steel, cut and pressed to match the shape of a number of traditional roofing materials. This provides a lightweight, super strong structure at the core of each of our tiles, guaranteeing the high performance our customers need. The steel is then covered in a layer of a special aluzinc alloy to prevent rusting when the tiles are exposed to the weather.

Our steel roof tiles are then covered with a mineral-filled state-of-the-art acrylic coating, followed by granules of real stone and finally a clear acrylic glaze is applied to seal the tile. This process provides a hardwearing and attractive finish that can be adjusted to mimic the appearance of a variety of traditional roof coverings, including clay, slate and wooden shingles.

What advantages does Metrotile offer?

Our tiles are up to seven times lighter than traditional materials. This reduces the load on your building, making them ideal for low pitch roofs and older buildings with shallow foundations. It also reduces their carbon footprint by cutting the amount of fuel needed for transportation.

The strength of our tiles, when combined with our unique, super-tight fastenings, makes our roofs highly resistance to even the most extreme weather, including wind speeds of up to 119miles per hour. We are so confident in the strength and security of our roofs, that we even offer a 40 year weatherproof British and European safety standards and require minimal maintenance.
